Pelikan New Classic

In 1992, Pelikan introduced a slim metal-bodied fountain pen. The model was named New Classic. The model was intended to be a classic style: The nib was made in the classic full-open nib, as was seen in the Souverän M400 and the narrow tapered clip shape also resembled the M400 and was reminiscent of the head and beak of a pelican. On the other hand, the New Classic, like the Signum, had a very elongated cylindrical shape and a far more modern appearance than the Souverän series of the same period.
